The client was looking for a dwelling designed on their existing site where they could live primarily on one level in their later years.
A thorough site analysis was undertaken due to the complexity of the existing site and its surrounding context. A robust design statement along with a package of planning drawings was produced.
This was a complex project as it involved a proposal to split the existing curtilage. The local authority initially refused the application and it was taken to the Local Review Board. The decision was overturned and the appeal awarded on the basis of a sound Planning Design Statement and supporting information. This was further supported through engagement with the local community and further demonstration that the design was in keeping with Local Authority guidelines and Policy.
